I have a “wish list” for those who want to peruse martial arts items: astore.amazon.com – I chose tonfa that were closer to what we use in our dojo, but I did not buy mine from any of the listed companies.

@shooterman40 naw,i think if your a practitioner of tae kwon do, kaiser knuckles would be your best option. but if you like tonfa, then you can learn to blend the techniques

@CAPTINBARNEY I have a friend who’s the leader of a police team that is called to break up brawls and defuse situations that could turn violent but too big for a regular 2 man patrol to handle.
And he says a fast strike to the thigh with a batton is his favorite way to deal with guys who try to start a fight. They usually go down right were they are before anyone could see what happened, and as it’s usually the biggest and meanest guy of the gang, the others instantly lose interest to fight. ^^

@shooterman40 I have only used wooden ones: one cheap Chinese pair and one expensive Okinawan pair – I have to say, you get what you pay! The police PR-24′s are usually composite, polycarbonate or similar.

Tonfas are stupid… Thats what I would have said if I didn’t actually hold one yesterday and saw how applicable they were. A harder punch than a brass knuckle. More difficult to disarm than a bat. Able to block more hits than you can with a pole. It’s a sword, its an ax! NO its a mothafucking tonfa!
