The Most Deadly Self Defense Technique You Should Practice
People often ask me, “What are the best self defense moves I can learn to defend myself?” To be honest, there’s really no simple answer to this. What I usually tell them is that the technique that works in their situation is the best one. No two situations are alike. There is no sure-fire technique to learn to use for all situations. You need to be able to clearly judge each situation and adjust your technique accordingly. That being said, there are a couple techniques that stand out.
One of the best ones available, and almost everyone knows it, is a simple kick to the groin. Every self-defense class teaches it, and there’s a reason. If you kick a male in the groin, he’s going to go down, and not just for a couple seconds. This will give you plenty of time to run and escape because he will be on the ground for couple of minutes.
Other popular techniques are things such as an eye jab. Eye jabs are great, because for one, it’s unexpected, 2) it’s a very fast attack, and 3) you’re hitting a very soft, critical, delicate target with a very hard target, the tip of your fingertips. Our main purpose with the eye jab is not to blind the attacker, however. It just blurs their vision and causes the eyes to water, and distracts them for a couple seconds. And that’s all you need to get away. It only takes a few seconds to hit them in eye, and once you do this just follow up with maybe giving them a quick elbow or knee to the head, and then make your escape.
Another great technique is a slap to the face. A lot of people don’t know about this one because they like to throw their punches, but really, a slap to the face can be very effective. This slap is very unlike the typical slap girls use in that you are going to be pretending to drive a nail through a board with your hands. You want to keep that in mind when doing a slap. A slap to the ear can really hurt someone, and give you plenty of time to follow up with a move. It will be a while before they recover because they will be very disoriented and dizzy.
These are a few of the most useful self-defense techniques out there, but none will work in every possibly situation. You will need to adapt to any situation that comes your way, so you need to have a variety of techniques in your arsenal.
