As well if you watch Vunaks video youll see him make a point to mention the action of the wrist. In fact the ear slap can be worked out of the clinch and when grappling. Smashing so hard into the skull could easily cause wrist injury if you land wrong the odds are always against you. TO take it and make it a hard handed smash instead of the slap will take the uncertainty of the effectivness out because if it misses it could still sweep his arms down enough to best him and drive him back or down.

@muaythaimark perhaps it was bad word choice I’m saying in terms of combatives, survival type fighting this technique is not effective and puts a ton of strain on the shouder after you train it for a long period, the ear slap needs only be hard enough to force down a few pounds of air pressure to do the damage, with the force he’s using why not straighten and stiffen the arm so in the event you miss youre still crashing into him, or his guard. I’m just saying it makes too many presumptions.

@junfan4 I don’t understand what you’re saying. I don’t think you can say “it wont work”. It might work. It can work. You might hurt your shoulder, true. You might break your fist on some guys skull. You might slip and bust your head. Anything can happen, street fights are not pretty. Maybe I’m missing your point, because it seems like you say your girl has used it but it wont work. Also, much less chance of hurting the wrist with a slap than a punch or palm strike.

Your techinque for the percussive blow won’t work, I’ve seen a ton of self defence guys try it like this but you’ll find that it hurts in the shoulder and the wrist with this method, plus you are opening too much, I mean the ear only takes a few pounds before you’re disorientated. My girlfriend has knocked me to the ground with the generic slap to one ear before. Not to talk down but I seriously doubt you’ve researched or used this combative for real or realistically.
