Ground fighting puts both fighters in great amount of risk for serious Chin Na techniques used against them, so what’s the point of investing so much time on it? A little bit of training in some basic techniques and positioning skills on the ground is far enough. Serious duels aren’t fought on the ground. It’s only for sport.

@randyds5 In the war period 500 years ago in Thailand, would a soldier live longer than 30 years?

Shaolin also uses alot of moves that are illegal in most sports. But, because many lack fighting experience, the user may not now how to efficiently use them. I think the monk had it right in saying, ” Every art has its specialty and place”. I would love to see antonio do more vids with the chinese. And this young monk seems very open minded and cool. Go Liu Gao Jie

I really liked this video. Because you try not to pick sides. The shaolin vs combat sports debate is two sided. And antonio made some great points. While MT fighters truly focus on pure fighting, which makes for better applications, risk their health and bodies, and by the time they are 25, they are done. While, shaolin can go on through old age. Shaolin does lack ground game, if one of their throws can KO on you on the concrete its ok….but like antonio said, would if it doesnt?

You’re in better shape everytime I see your videos.!! You should use your mma skills. Double leg take down and then mount and keep on punching and don’t let him up. And armbar or rear naked choke him just for fun. The monk’s switch stance roundhouse counter was awesome. 5 stars.
